ANITA WELLS

Anita was born on April 1, 1939 in Phoenix, Arizona.  She loved singing and had the desire to perform at a very early age.  By the time she was 9 years old she would catch the bus by herself traveling to downtown Phoenix to enter singing competitions held by a traveling television show called The Louisiana Hayride.  At one time she performed on the same show as Wayne Newton and another time actually won a singing competition and the prize was a cocker spaniel puppy which she fondly spoke of often to her children as we grew up.  She said she had had such a good time singing and felt special having won the puppy dog and she would never forget the joy that singing brought to her heart.

Anita attended Phoenix Union High School and was a renowned Fast pitch softball Pitcher from 1948 to 1957 and played with the PBSW Ramblers one of the finest women’s softball teams ever produced in Arizona.   Anita then married Jerry L. E. Wells who was a world renowned Fast pitch softball Pitcher as well.  Jerry and Anita shared a love of fast pitch softball throughout their lives and were blessed to have shared the love of the game with their children and grandchildren as well as people all over the world.

Anita acquired her Teaching Certificate from ASU in 1987 and has taught school in the Prescott Unified School District up to the time of her death.  She loved children and knew how to teach in a way that kept them interested to learn the important things about world history and government as these were her favorite subjects.  In 1991 Anita also achieved her Master’s degree and her Certificate of Principal ship from ASU as well.

In addition to Anita’s many accomplishments she was blessed with the privilege of fulfilling her lifelong dream of entertaining as a singer both individually and with the local band named Brush Arbor Revival.  She travelled state wide sharing her love of music with people everywhere and felt very blessed to have had the opportunity to share her love of music with so many.

Anita Wells was a not only a strong leader she was a kind and loving person in so many ways and was cherished by all who knew her.  Her presence will be greatly missed by all.  In fact, the sun will never shine as bright ever again for many of us.

Anita would want us all to remember how she lived- and honor her by living life to the fullest and loving each other well. God bless you, Anita Wells (Mom). Thank you for your legacy.
